If it snows this fall (it usually does) the fertilizer still works properly.

Lawns still grow over the fall and winter… just not the same as in the spring and summer.

Your trees and shrubs still grow over the fall and winter… just not the same as in the spring and summer.

The fertilizer helps the lawn, trees and shrubs prepare for the winter and it will help it all grow early next spring too.

Here are some tips for keeping your lawn nice over the fall:

  1. Mow your lawn short as the season comes to an end. Grass that is left tall over the winter will get moldy and can create a disease when covered by the snow.
  2. Mulch your grass clippings and leaves so they can return to the soil and that
  3. will improve the soil year after year by adding organic material
  4. to the soil.

Fall is a great time to have your lawn Core Aerated and Overseeded… but please schedule this soon as our days are numbered.

This softens up the soil to allow water, air and nutrients into the soil.

Each of the holes will be a tiny passageway to the root system to help the lawn grow better. Then we can overseed the lawn to get the lawn thicker and greener for next year. Call or email us today to have this done.

FAQ’s

Q: My lawn will be mowed today or tomorrow… is that ok?

A: Yes it will, the granular fertilizer will fall into the lawn and go down towards the soil. When the lawn is mowed please mulch the grass and leaves so all that good stuff stays there. The fertilizer will not be removed by the lawn mower.

Q: Why does the lawn need fertilizer at the end of the season?

A: The lawn is still growing and will prepare for the winter with this fertilizer. Some of the fertilizer applied in the late fall will be used up early in the spring. Lawns that look nice and green in the spring likely got this late fall visit.

Q: What should I do with all the leaves in my lawn?

A: Please mulch them up and allow the tiny pieces to return to the soil, this will improve the soil. Please mulch your grass all season long instead of bagging it… this adds organic matter to the soil and your grass will benefit from it.

Hello everyone!                                                                                         Early Fall

It’s nice to see some of the recent rain… we were seeing some lawns turning brown from lack of water. Rain is great… rain plus fertilizer is even better! We got some nice spring rains, then the driest July since 1944. The last two weeks in July we got 0.02 inches. Thanks to those of you that watered each week. We are seeing many lawns turn green again.

If you don’t need grass seed and only want Core Aeration then consider our Liquid Aeration, it cost the same as the regular aeration and is not messy. It works by adding good stuff to the soil to help loosen things up to get more oxygen down in the soil where it’s needed.

Organic Tree and Shrub Fertilization

We have a wonderful tree and shrub program that makes your landscape healthy and beautiful. We can help fix the damage done by Japanese Beetles too. We can do this in the spring, summer and fall.

Isn’t it worth getting things healthy again?

Here are some tips for keeping your lawn nice over the fall:

  1. Mow your lawn at 3 ½ inches. Tall grass will shade the soil keeping moisture there to be used instead of evaporating.
  2. Water the lawn and landscape once a week, if you put a shallow pan or bowl out in the grass and measure while the sprinkler is going, you can turn off the sprinkler when it gets to an inch deep. 35-40 minutes is usually enough time to water.
  3. Mulch your grass clippings and leaves so they can return to the soil and that
  4. will improve the soil year after year by adding organic material
  5. to the soil.

Hello Everyone!                                                                           Late Summer

Helpful Tip:

  • We recommend the lawn is mowed at 3 ½ inches when needed.
  • Mulch your grass clippings so they can return to the soil and that will improve the soil year after year by adding organic material to the soil.
  • Your clippings contain important nutrients that can be reused and make your soil better.

Watering of lawn:

  • We recommend watering the lawn at least once a week for 40 minutes in each area.

Important tip:

  • If you have weeds in landscape they can produce 1,000’s of seeds which blow into the lawn and create more weeds.
  • If you want to protect your lawn from Grubs and have not set this up yet please let us know as soon as possible so we can schedule this visit.

Are Mosquitoes bugging you? Have your lawn and landscape sprayed monthly.

We offer natural Cedar Oil which kills and repels Mosquitoes.

Liquid Aeration? Why yes… we LOVE this stuff!!

Designed to break up and loosen soil and encourage deeper roots. It also drives more oxygen into the soil profile which is AWESOME. It’s the same price as the mechanical aeration but no mess. Driving roots deeper will crack the rest of the soil with the aid of powerful oxygen adding ingredients. Email us for more information before fall arrives.

Organic Tree and Shrub Fertilization

We have a wonderful tree and shrub program that makes your landscape healthy and beautiful. It’s a mixture of kelp and what a great gentle healthy mixture! We can help fix the damage done by Japanese Beetles too. We do this twice in the spring, once in the summer and twice in the fall. We’ll check for insects and disease too and let you know if we see anything out of the ordinary.

Hello everyone!                                                                           Late Spring

Well it’s that time of year again to get our lawns fed so they green up nicely!

Isn’t it nice that spring is FINALLY here?

Well the soil will warm up soon and the micro organisms will come out of dormancy as well and things will start growing and turning green… flowers will be blooming and we’ll enjoy that sweet smell of springtime!!

If you want to protect your lawn from Grubs and have not set this up yet please let us know ASAP so we can schedule this visit.

Grubs feed on and around the roots of the lawn which can kill the lawn… plus critters come out at night digging and looking for a midnight snack.

Spring is a great time to have your lawn Core Aerated

This softens up the soil to allow water, air and nutrients into the soil. Each of the holes will be a tiny passageway to the root system to help the lawn grow better.

Have us Overseed your lawn after we Core Aerate to thicken up your lawn.

Tree and Shrub Fertilization

We have a wonderful organic tree and shrub fertilizer program that makes your landscape healthy and beautiful. We brew an organic compost tea for about 30 hours then mix that with kelp and end up with an amazing product to help make things look beautiful. We can help fix the damage done by Japanese Beetles, too. We do this twice in the spring, once in the summer and twice in the fall.

Mosquito Control without Pesticides?

With summer comes bugs too and if you are wanting some help with Mosquitoes please let us know. We have been doing organic lawn care since 1994 and we now offer Cedar Oil treatments to keep those pesky mosquitoes away. We LOVE how cedar smells… we use cedar mulch in the landscape which has a nice smell to it, we line our dresser drawers with it to keep away certain moths that may damage our clothes, we line a pantry with it to keep pest of the kitchen - Why not have it sprayed around your house and on your landscape plants and yard to drive away those pesky MOSQUITOES!!

When used about every 4-5 weeks the Mosquitoes are driven away by the smell.

We have all heard by now of the Zika Virus and most of us have Mosquitoes around the house too… let us help keep them away from you and your family. The average treatment costs around $65.00 per visit and it should be done every 4-5 weeks when the mosquito season starts.

Google: “Mosquitoes controlled by Cedar Oil” to learn about how it works.

Hello everyone!                                                                Early Spring

Well it’s that time of year again to get our lawns fed so they green up nicely.

We hope it warms up soon. Hey… did you know?

As a byproduct of photosynthesis, oxygen is released into the atmosphere. A turfgrass area measuring 2,500 square feet produces enough oxygen for a family of four to breathe. An average sized healthy lawn can capture as much as 300 pounds of carbon per year and a golf course fairway can capture 1,500 pounds per year.

Lawn Mowing Tips:

  • Mow your grass about 3” or higher.  This will be beneficial in many ways. This encourages deeper root growth.  The taller grass blades actually shade the soil so the moisture gets used up more instead of evaporating from the direct sunlight.
  • Bagging grass vs Mulching grass? Mulch the grass whenever possible. Leaving the clippings there will add beneficial organic matter to the soil which builds up month after month. With organic lawn care and having soil full of micro organisms and organic matter is very essential!!
  • Mow your grass as often as needed.
  • Mowing twice a week in the spring is sometimes necessary while mowing less often over the summer is possible.

If you want to protect your lawn from Grubs and have not set this up yet please let us know ASAP so we can schedule this visit.

If you have signed up for Grub Control already then great! Those of you that still want to protect your lawn all season long from damaging Grubs and Insects, please let us know because it’s far cheaper and easier to prevent the grub damage than to fix a damaged lawn. Plus we can prevent damage with a product done before July that kills Grubs and only Grubs… If we have to use a product in the fall for an emergency visit, it will kill about 50 insects (some beneficial) plus worms. We’d like to prevent damage and kill only the Grubs in the soil.
